Mercedes GP duo Rosberg, Schumacher excited about 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher are very excited to be back in Japan for the 15th round of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Suzuka is truly a great racetrack in the sport. Both of the Mercedes drivers have stated that they are looking forward to a successful race weekend in Japan, which is scheduled to be held on October 9, 2011.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver Schumacher talked to the media and stated that Suzuka is a very special circuit, and one which has great memories for him over the past years.
The seven-time world champion also mentioned that he always enjoyed the challenge of driving at the Suzuka circuit, so he is again ready to face the challenge in Japan this year.
Talking to reporters, Schumacher commented, “A great first sector, high-speed turns, and interesting corner combinations all make Suzuka one of the best race tracks of the year, and definitely one of my favourites. We will be working hard to make the most
of our weekend here, and hopefully we can come away with a strong performance and some more points.”
The 42-year-old driver was unable to stay on the grid until the end of the race in Singapore. Due to having a contact with Sauber’s Sergio Perez, he had to retire from the Singapore Grand Prix after completing 28 laps.
After the Singapore race, Schumacher is placed at the eighth place with 62 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
On the other hand, his teammate Rosberg said that he always loves the atmosphere in Japan. In addition, he stated that he always received full support from their fans in Suzuka during the race.
The German driver commented that he hopes his team can put on a better show for their fans and achieve a good result from the upcoming Singapore race weekend as well.
The German mentioned, “Personally I think it's one of the best circuits on the Formula One calendar, along with Spa, and one which every driver loves.”
Let’s see how Mercedes GP duo Schumacher and Rosberg perform in Japan this weekend.
