Mercedes GP duo Schumacher, Rosberg confident ahead of 2011 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg are confident ahead of the 2011 Korean Grand Prix, which will take place on October 16 at Korea International Circuit.
Both of the drivers said that they are looking forward to racing well on the grid in Korea this weekend following their successful 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver, Schumacher talked to the media and mentioned that visiting Korea for the first time in the 2010 Formula 1 season was an interesting experience for him. In addition, he stated that he really enjoyed learning the new Yeongam
track in Korea in 2010.
Schumacher commented, “It's a very impressive facility, and the track has enough challenges to make it enjoyable to drive. We also had a good result there as I equalled my best result of the season, finishing the race in fourth place.”
The seven-time world champion had a good race weekend in Japan, where he impressed his team by scoring decent points for them.
The 42-year-old driver started his race from the eighth place at the Suzuka racetrack and after struggling with his MGP-W02 car, he came at the sixth position ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa on the final race classifications.
On the other hand, his teammate Rosberg is aiming to do well again on the grid in the upcoming Korean Grand Prix. The German added that he really enjoyed his first race at Korea International Circuit in 2010.
Rosberg stated, “I'm certainly aiming for a more successful weekend than last year, when I was taken out in an accident with Webber on the second lap at racing speeds after the Safety Car came in. We learned in Japan that our performance has taken a small
step forward since Singapore.”
He started his race from the back of the field and after putting all of his efforts, he ended up in the tenth position for the team.
After the 2011 Suzuka race, Schumacher is placed at the eighth position with 60 points in the drivers’ championship, while Rosberg is sitting at the seventh position with 63 points in the championship battle at the moment.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage the upcoming Korean Grand Prix this weekend following their positive Japanese race weekend.
