Mercedes GP duo Schumacher, Rosberg looking forward to 2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg are looking forward to the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix taking place on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
After finishing his run in points in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix, the team driver Schumacher is hoping to have another successful grand prix in the 2011 Formula 1 season next weekend.
The seven-time world champion is moving in the right direction since the last couple of races of the ongoing season. After the 2011 Spa race, the team received strong results from Schumacher at the Italian Grand Prix.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver took a strong start in the Monza race and after a close fight with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton during the Grand Prix, he came at the fifth place in the final race classifications.
The 42-year-old driver commented, “I really enjoyed my first experience of Formula One night racing in Singapore last year and it was an interesting weekend to be working on such a different time schedule. Surprisingly, it worked out very well and somehow
even fun to drive and have meetings in the middle of the night.”
Schumacher further added that he really enjoyed the last two races of the season held in Spa and Monza respectively.
After getting positive results from the last two races, Schumacher is hopeful his team will continue to work hard and keep up point finishes in the last six rounds of the ongoing season.
On the other hand, Schumacher’s teammate Rosberg is looking forward to a successful race weekend in Singapore following his retirement from the Italian Grand Prix.
The German had an accident in the first corner of the circuit at the Monza racetrack last weekend and due to that, he had to retire from the race.
Rosberg said, “The track itself is good fun to drive and a real challenge. The stop-start nature means you have to concentrate hard throughout the lap and it feels very narrow and enclosed, like a true street circuit.”
Let’s see how both of the drivers perform at the Marina Bay Street Circuit next weekend.
