Mercedes GP hopeful of getting better results from last five rounds of 2011 season – Formula 1
Mercedes GP are hopeful of getting better results from the last five rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season with the upgrades which have been delivered to their MGP-W02 car for the recently held Singapore Grand Prix.
The team boss Ross Brawn talked to the media and said that they are confident the latest aerodynamic updates in their car will work properly in the next race weekends of the ongoing season and they can get better results as well.
Brawn commented, “It may not look as though our relative position has changed, but if you think back to Hungary, which was the last high downforce track, we struggled. So far the numbers look like we have moved forward and I think we will see the benefit
in the next couple of races in particular, so it looks okay.”
He went on to mention, “There were several detailed aerodynamic improvements - with bodywork and tuning. It was nothing radical – just going through the loop of floor and bodywork, those sorts of things.”
The team boss further added that the next couple of races, which are scheduled to be held in Japan and Korea respectively, will be suitable for their car, as the venues have high-speed tracks and that always suits the Mercedes car.
With regards to the Petronas-sponsored team’s show in the 2011 Singapore race weekend, both of the drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg did not have the best of times there.
Schumacher retired from the race in Singapore following his strong results in the last couple of races of the season. He had a contact with Sauber’s Sergio Perez and due to that, he could not stay at the Marina Bay Street Circuit until the end of the Grand
Prix.
His teammate Rosberg struggled with his car and tried to finish his race in points for the team. After starting from the seventh place on the opening grid, he came at the same position on the final race classifications at Singapore.
Let’s see how both Germans perform in the last five rounds of the 2011 season.
