Mercedes GP hoping to repeat Chinese Grand Prix performance at upcoming Turkish Grand Prix
Mercedes GP have said that they are hoping to improve their reliability and score decent points at the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix.
The team gave its best performance of the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season at the Chinese Grand Prix and is now hoping to improve on their recent performance in the remainder of the campaign.
Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has said that their car is now improving noticeably and his expectations from the team is also increasing with time.
“The team and drivers have worked extremely hard in the short break before the European season begins to ensure that we continue to move forward. We have a fundamentally good car and we need to achieve its full potential in the races to come,” said Brawn.
Both of the team’s drivers finished amongst points at the Chinese Grand Prix recently with Nico Rosberg finishing in 5th place followed by his teammate Michael Schumacher in 8th place.
Rosberg led the race for a considerable amount of time and for the first time, it seemed that Mercedes had the pace to compete alongside the top running teams of the sport.
“The Chinese Grand Prix reminded everyone at the team what it is like to fight for a race. We didn't succeed on that occasion but it's a feeling that we would like to experience more often,” added Brawn.
The team had a great pre-season testing period and it was expected that they would be one of the top running teams of the sport but since the 2011 Formula 1 season started, the team has not been able to perform as good as it was expecting.
“We had a more difficult start to 2011 than we had expected, and the first three races felt a little like a rollercoaster of emotions,” he said.
Brawn added that when their car works properly, they become more competitive. Let’s hope Mercedes GP continue their good work and improve further in the upcoming Turkish Grand Prix.
