Mercedes GP talks about the Japanese GP
Not everyone returns from a race weekend with the same feeling. The teams, the fans and the drivers all pack up to come back from a race weekend with entirely different thoughts and experiences. The sixteenth race of the 2010
Formula One season, held last Sunday at the Suzuka Track also saw an amalgam of feelings. When many of the other drivers returned home with low feelings, one man was happy with how the race unwrapped for him.
Though it would have been strange to say this for Michael Schumacher a few years back but this season it is true, he returned very happy from the race. The seven times world champion ended the Japanese Grand Prix at sixth place,
making it his best finish of the season. This has also given the hope of finally seeing some better finishes by the driver after a much depressing season.
Now as the racing icon returned from the track, reporters talked to him asking about his experience of driving at the track after such a long time. He started off telling, "I am quite happy with the race today and the car felt
really good. The opportunity to make up places was just what I hoped for and sixth place was the maximum that we could have achieved.”
The German driver has returned to the track after a period of three years as he announced his retirement in 2007. Though the season has not been a great one for him yet the legendary driver is adamant to stay and race for the next
season as well hoping to get a better car from the team for the upcoming season.
Now, as he returned from the track he was glad to state that the response of the people has been brilliant as he went to the venue after a long time.
As the cars now head for their next destination in South Korea he hopes to repeat another good finish. He openly expressed that since the track is going to host its debut race, he does not know what to expect but still hopes to
have a good race if he can get a good car like the one he had in Japan.
On the other hand, his teammate Nico Rosberg returned pointless from the last race as he was not able to finish. Nico told the press, "It was a disappointing end to the weekend today. Due to a clutch problem, my start was poor
but our strategy was good to change tyres under the safety car on the first lap which enabled me to recover the places and be racing in sixth position.”
But then the worst came for the driver later as his tyres gave up after suffering enough from the long stint and then the rear of the car also broke apart, thus finishing his race, handing the sixth place to his teammate.
Finally, Ross Brawn expressed joy for Schumacher saying that he was glad to see the hero getting points once again and now expects to see him on the podium very soon.
The laps of the race during which Nico and Michael raced head to head for sixth place were really entertaining, however Nico went short of luck and handed the 6th position to Schumacher, making it his best of the season.
