Mercedes GP want to replicate Barcelona testing performance on the grid – Formula 1 news
Recent reports have revealed that Formula 1 Mercedes GP wants its winter testing performance, showed in final Barcelona, back on the grid, as they have not been able to show their best run in 2011 season’s races so far.
In the Barcelona test, Mercedes brought some upgrades in the new MGP-W02 car and as a result, team driver Michael Schumacher recorded fastest time of the test session. That was wonderful and memorable outing of the Mercedes squad. That is why the team is
poised for Barcelona test plans to rethink of their improvement in the upcoming races of the season.
The team Principal Ross Brawn said, “If you look at it last year, in the last five races we changed nothing with our car but we went faster. So there is a lot of time in cars in just understanding what they respond to, and how you set them up.”
Mercedes had a disappointing start in this season, but after two events held in Australia and Malaysia, team showed impressive run in the Chinese Grand Prix after finishing their best run in qualifying.
Team driver Nico Rosberg made very inspiring run for the Petronas-sponsored team and got 10 points in the end. His teammate Schumacher was also busy struggling for his podium position, but was unable to gather his best run against the top runners of race,
due to having some technical issue in his car. The Mercedes car pace was much faster than the expectations in the Chinese Grand Prix.
Brawn went on to say, “Now we are seeing the best ways of getting it to work. Nothing dramatic has changed; we just have thought about the set-up and thought about the things we should priorities. And that is what we did in China.”
After his success in China, Rosberg is looking for a strong performance in the season.
In order to fight for the podium, the team has decided to bring some changes in the upcoming race of the 2011 season, which will take place on May 8, 2011 in Turkey.
