Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton desires race seat at Ferrari – Formula 1 News
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is very happy at his current team, but expressed desire to secure a race seat at Ferrari at some point in his F1 career in the future.
Hamilton has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the sport. He started his F1 career with McLaren in 2007. He performed amazingly well with the British squad and won the drivers’ championship in 2008.
The British driver left his home team at the end of last year and joined the Silver Arrows as Michael Schumacher’s replacement for this season. He has delivered some remarkable performances in this season so far and is currently
standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship. Although, he said that he is really pleased to be at the Brackley based team and is looking forward to stay for a long period of time. However, he insisted that like many other drivers in F1, he
also wants to join Ferrari.
“At the moment I can't see myself anywhere else because I'm really happy where I am,” Hamilton said. “But what I can say is that throughout my racing career and through karting and everything Ferrari have always been one of the
top teams and it's always a desire for any driver to drive for them.”
“So anyone who gets that chance, no matter where you are or what car you drive, you look at a Ferrari and think: 'That's pretty cool.' But like I said, at the moment I'm really happy where I am and I hope Mercedes keep me for even
longer,” he added.
Besides, he also said that he can race against any driver as his teammate at any team. He also stated that he can happily become Sebastian Vettel’s teammate when he was asked about joining Red Bull in the future.
The 28-year-old has secured three podium finishes in the season so far, but he has not been able to achieve any race victory. In contrast, his teammate, Nico Rosberg has already scored a win in the Monaco Grand Prix after securing
his third consecutive pole position of the season.
It will be exciting to see how the Briton performs in his home race on June 30, 2013.
