Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says they have a lot of work to do – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that they have a lot of work to do in order to resolve their reliability issues after struggling in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton performed amazingly well in the qualifying at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and managed to secure second grid slot for the race. However, he struggled with his race pace and failed to score even a single point for his team.
On the other hand, his teammate, Nico Rosberg also delivered an incredible performance in the qualifying of the Spanish GP and successfully claimed the pole position. But, he could only secure 6th place finish in the race.
Therefore, the 2008 world champion has said that they need to work very hard to resolve their problems so as to perform well in the forthcoming races.
“We've got a lot of work to do,” he said. “We both went backwards at the start, but I went back a long, long way. We've just got work to do and we have to go back to the drawing board to find out what's wrong.”
Besides, he said that they have not been able to maximise their potential in the preceding race and they don’t know what technical problem they are facing right now. Nevertheless, he asserted that they are positively looking forward to come up stronger in
the season after resolving their issues.
“I don't know if it's frustrating, it's just a shame for the team after they worked so hard. For some reason we are just not able to pull it together. We don't know where it is at the moment, otherwise we would fix it immediately, but I'm sure the guys will
find it,” he added.
Presently, the British driver is standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 50 points. Additionally, he is ahead of his main rival, Felipe Massa and behind Fernando Alonso.
Meanwhile, the Silver Arrows are also at 4th place in the constructors’ championship with 72 points. Furthermore, they are ahead of Force India and behind Lotus. It will be exciting to see how they perform in the approaching races.
