Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton still feels uncomfortable in his car – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is still feeling uncomfortable in his car despite setting the second best time in the second free Friday practice session of the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix.
Hamilton showed an impressive pace in FP2 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and came second in the timesheets with his best time of 1 minute and 14.830 seconds. Furthermore, he remained ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus and behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who
topped the timesheets with 1 minute and 14.818 seconds.
Despite of showing an admirable pace in the second practice, the British driver has expressed that he is not feeling fully comfortable behind the wheel of his car.
“I still don't feel right in car for some reason,” Hamilton said. “Maybe it's my seat, today I was really doing my belts up really, really tight which I never do. Maybe I'm moving around in car too much, who knows, but it's a little bit better today.”
Nonetheless, he said that he is contented with his Friday run and is expecting good track conditions in the qualifying of the approaching race.
“Today has gone pretty well for us and I'm pleased that it dried out this afternoon so we could get some decent running in. The track is definitely not at its full potential yet but we were able to start analysing tyres over longer runs and work on getting
them up to speed for first lap,” he added.
Besides, he asserted that they need to work hard to resolve their issues in order to enhance their car’s performance in the season ahead. He also said that he is hoping for a dry qualifying so that he can secure a competitive grid slot for the race.
At present, the 2008 world champion is standing at 4th place in the Drivers’ Championship with 62 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and behind his major opponent, Alonso. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the
upcoming races and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team and fans or not.
