Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg believes new Pirelli tyres will ease their issues – Formula 1 news

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that the new Pirelli tyres will hopefully reduce their degradation issues in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix.
After the terrible incidents of tyre explosion in the British GP, the Italian tyre company came up with the stronger rear tyres in the German GP which didn’t suited the Silver Arrows and they failed to secure the desired results at the Nurburgring. Moreover,
they were not given the permission by the FIA to take part in the Young Driver Test held at the Silverstone circuit because of their secret tyre test with Pirelli.
Nevertheless, after the Friday practice and the qualifying at the Hungaroring, Rosberg has stated that they are feeling quite pleased with the new tyres. In addition, he expressed that they have tried their best to make the necessary improvements in their
car since the German GP and are positively looking forward to perform well in this weekend’s race. However, he said that they will surely have a tough fight with their major opponents, which mainly include Lotus, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari.
“It looks like it for now, that was the tendency [on Friday],” he said. “Definitely the situation should be a little bit better than the Nurburgring. The Nurburgring was quite tough and we must improve from there, but still it's going to be a big challenge
against teams like Lotus, Red Bull and even Ferrari.”
The veteran German driver has successfully secured fourth grid slot for the race while his teammate, Lewis Hamilton has claimed the pole position. He has asserted that he is very happy with his qualifying performance and is eying to score good points for
his team in the race.
“Our speed was a bit of a surprise today as the car set-up work was focused on good race pace this weekend,” Rosberg added. “But it worked quite well in the hot temperatures. It's great for the team to be starting from fourth and pole position.”
Besides, he said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the hot conditions at the Hungaroring on the race day.
