Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg believes they need to work hard to fight for the title – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg believes that they really need to work harder to fight for 2012 Formula 1 World Championship title as the competitors are busy progressing in the front.
Rosberg is currently standing at 6th place in the drivers’ championship with 75 points between the pair of Lotus drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.
Moreover, it will be important to mention that he claimed his maiden victory in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China and has been one of the most consistent drivers in the current season.
Conversely, he struggled in the British GP held at Silverstone Circuit and could not score even a single point as he came 15th after qualifying for the 11th grid position.
Therefore, the veteran German driver expressed that they must make the considerable improvements in their car W03 so as to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
Nevertheless, he said that they are positively looking forward to strike back in the German GP which is to be held at Hockenheimring and are aiming to attain better results.
“The others are really attacking now, especially the teams up front, and we've really got to get our act together to make sure that they don't get away from us in the mid-season - that's very important,” he said on his YouTube video blog. “I'm looking forward
to Hockenheim; it's a track that suits us much more, it's a race at home, and I'm very optimistic and I think we can do a top result there.”
On the other hand, his teammate, Michael Schumacher performed incredibly well during the qualifying of the last race and secured 3rd place in the grid. However, he faced difficulties with the dry track conditions and could not convert his competitive
grid position into a podium finish and came 7th.
Meanwhile, Mercedes are standing at fifth place in the constructors’ championship with 98 points. Furthermore, they are 44 points behind McLaren and 38 points ahead of Sauber.
Above and beyond, it will be interesting to see how the Brackley based team performs in the forthcoming races.
