Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg hopes to maintain momentum in Canada – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is hoping to maintain his momentum in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix after scoring an incredible win in Monaco.
Rosberg delivered an amazing performance in the Monaco GP and successfully claimed his second ever victory after securing his third consecutive pole position of the season.
After attaining strong result in Monte Carlo, the German driver has said that he is confidently looking forward to keep up his level of performance in the forthcoming race.
The 27-year-old said that they receive great support from their fans in Montreal and expressed that Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one of his favourite tracks on the F1 calendar. In addition, he said that tyre management will play a crucial role in the approaching
race. Therefore, he insisted that they must work harder to improve their tyre management.
“The Canadian Grand Prix is always a great event as the fans in Montreal are so enthusiastic,” Rosberg said.
“We receive so much support out in Montreal and it's great to see that enthusiasm. The circuit itself is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar and I love the challenge of driving there. It's a very difficult layout to drive because of the low downforce
levels required for the long straights and it will be tough on the tyres,” he said.
Besides, he said that he is aiming for another strong performance in Canada after his impressive showing in Monaco.
“We'll be hoping to maintain that momentum in Canada this weekend and will be going all out for another strong performance,” he added.
Currently, he is standing at 6th place in the drivers’ championship with 47 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of his main rival, Felipe Massa and behind Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing. He has impressed everyone with his incredible qualifying performances
in the season until now.
In contrast, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton is presently at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 62 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Webber and behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
It will be exciting to see how Mercedes’ drivers perform in the season ahead.
