Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg says drivers are taking too many risks – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has said that Formula 1 drivers are taking a lot of risks in the races and insisted that they should keep their cool so as to avoid the accidents.
Rosberg could not score even a single point in the Korean Grand Prix as he, along with Jenson Button of McLaren, were retired just in the opening lap because of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber who lost the control of his car and afterwards faced a drive-through
penalty for his mistake.
It will be important to mention that the veteran German driver was also retired in the Japanese GP in the first lap because of his contact with Williams’ driver Bruno Senna’s car.
The 27-year-old felt very upset over his retirement in the last two races and said that there are few drivers in the field who are taking too much risk and advised them to keep calm in order to keep away from the unpleasant incidents.
“Two weeks, including Japan, that it has been really poor,” Rosberg said in his latest video blog. “Terrible to go out in the first lap both times. There are just a bunch of drivers who are pushing too much, taking too many risks. They need to calm down
a bit, I think.”
In addition, he said that he was comfortable behind the wheel of his updated car and praised the efforts of his team for making the essential step-ups. Besides, he said that they are feeling optimistic as they were able to reduce the gap to McLaren.
“The car was okay. We made a little bit of progress there [Japan], and we had some new bits here. Especially compared to McLaren I think we are getting a little bit closer, so there are some positives there,” the German driver said.
Additionally, he said that they need to learn from their mistakes to come up stronger in the forthcoming races. He added that they are not feeling disappointed over their poor results in the last couple of races and are positively looking forward to perform
well in the remainder of the season.
