Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher confident ahead of Monaco – Formula 1
Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher believe that the Mercedes car will be suited to the conditions of the Monaco street circuit.
The first race of the European leg of the season was not the start Mercedes was looking for. Both drivers found it difficult to handle the quick degrading Pirelli compounds. Schumacher has been very vocal about his criticism over the Pirelli tyres and to
an extent blamed the rubber compounds to be the reason for his poor showing.
During the Spanish GP Schumacher crashed into Williams’ driver Bruno Senna ending both the drivers’ races. The crash according to Schumacher was to an extent Senna’s fault but therein lays the issue of the Pirelli tyres as it was the different conditions
of the tyres that led Senna to brake early and Schumacher to delay his.
Most followers of the support and former drivers have supported the introduction of the Pirelli tyres as it has brought in excitement and a lot more strategies to the sport.
“I have always been quick around the streets here, and I believe a good result is possible for us next weekend,” Rosberg said. “The nature of the track should suit our car but as we have seen at every race so far this season, tyre management will be crucial.
With five different winning teams so far this year, at least ten drivers have the chance to win in Monaco so this could be one of the most interesting races there for years.”
Despite the troubles Mercedes drivers are facing especially Schumacher who has been slapped with a five place grid-penalty for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, they are confident that they will be able to overcome these issues and come up with the required
results at Monaco.
Schumacher added that whenever he goes out to race he is always looking forward to just getting out and driving the track. The penalty will definitely hurt but that only means that he will have to try even harder to perform. The confidence level is high
and the team has put in the hard work developing the car and it will be his priority to make the best out of the weekend.
