Mercedes drivers feel disappointed after 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg have said that their cars were not competent enough to challenge for victory in 2012 German Grand Prix as compared to the teams in the front.
Schumacher delivered an inspiring performance in the qualifying of the German GP and secured third grid position for the race. Afterwards, he took a great start and gave tough competition to his compatriot, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
However, he could only secure 7th place finish as he suffered with the issue of tyre degradation and could not convert his competitive grid slot into a podium finish.
The seven-time world champion said that even though they had a good start but they could not manage to keep up with level of the pace which was required to finish amongst the top three. Furthermore, he said that he is feeling very upset over his uncompetitive
performance.
Nevertheless, he said that he is aiming to come up stronger in the Hungarian GP which is going to be held at Hungaroring on July 29.
“We started reasonably well and had a fight at start with Sebastian, but from then on we were just not quick enough,” he said. “Starting third and finishing seventh is not way you would like to finish but unfortunately there wasn't much more available. I
squeezed everything and every bit out of it and that's what it is. Let's wait to see what happens in Hungary, it can be interesting.”
On the other hand, his teammate, Rosberg faced five-place grid penalty for gearbox change, however, he performed quite convincingly and secured 10th place finish after setting off from 21st grid slot.
Nonetheless, he said that they need to improve the pace of their car so as to strike back in the season ahead.
“We're not as strong as we want to be at the moment. We need to work on that and try to move forward again because others have got away a bit recently,” he said.
The Brackley based team has truly got the potential to fight for this year’s championship title in their talented and experienced pair of drivers which can be very well complemented with their expertise. Let’s see how they show up in the Hungarian GP.
