Mercedes focus on 2013 car development – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that they are focusing to make the essential developments in their car for the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Brawn said that they are already working on their next season’s car and are making the advancements concerning its aerodynamics so as to be able to come up stronger in the coming year. Moreover, he said that they are trying their best to eliminate the errors
which they have made in this season in order to take a competitive start in the next year.
“A balanced approach [to 2012 and 2013] I think. Our chassis team are designing next year's car; there are certain directions they want to confirm. The aerodynamic changes you saw we were trying on rear wing are primarily for next year,” he said.
It will be important to mention that Mercedes pair of drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg has struggled in most of the grands prix during this season because of some reliability issues in the car and poor tyre management.
Nevertheless, Rosberg still managed to claim an impressive victory for his team in the Chinese Grand Prix while Schumacher secured an inspiring third podium finish in the European GP.
Even though, Brawn said that they are making the necessary preparations for the coming season but he ensured that they will not compromise on their performance in the remaining four races of the current season.
In addition, he said that although they have struggled with some problems in the season until now but they are confidently looking forward to attain competitive results in the remainder of the season so as to make their mark stronger in this year’s constructors’
championship.
“We don't want to sacrifice the remainder of this year for next year but it's a pretty strong aspect. At Suzuka we had two different rear suspension geometries we tried, we tried some other fundamental differences, so we're plugging those things in to programme
but we still want to have pretty respectable performance for rest of the year,” he added.
It will be exciting to see how the veteran German drivers perform in the approaching races.
