Mercedes’ main concern is to resolve Michael Schumacher’s reliability issues – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that presently their main concern is to resolve the reliability issues of Michael Schumacher which he has been facing in the season so far.
Schumacher has only been able to score 2 points in the season until now and has retired in five out of first seven races. In the first race held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia he faced gearbox problem during the race. Later, in the third race at
Shanghai International Circuit in China, his tyre was not fitted properly during the pit stop.
Afterwards, in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he faced DRS activation problems. Later on, in the sixth race at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, he retired due to failure of fuel pressure. Over and above, in the seventh race
at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, he had a DRS malfunction which caused his retirement.
Even though, the seven-time world champion has delivered some incredible performances in the qualifying of several races. However, he could not be able to convert his competitive grid positions into a podium finish in any of the race.
Nevertheless, Brawn said that they are trying their best to solve the issues which have been faced by the veteran German driver and focusing to provide him with a competitive car for the forthcoming races.
“Both cars are designed and built to exactly same standards, according to same processes,” he said. “Our target is always zero-defect reliability and we are not achieving that at the moment, which is compromising our championship position and our chances
in races. Resolving it is our highest priority.”
He added, “We have to ensure that we fully understand reasons for problems and then deal with them in a clear and systematic way. Every member of team is acutely aware of their responsibilities in these areas and problems we have experienced are not due
to a lack of attention or diligence.”
It will be important to mention that the record championship holder has said that he is not feeling disappointed even with all the difficulties he has encountered with and expressed that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching
races.
