Mercedes principal Ross Brawn believes team will bounce back – Formula 1 news
Mercedes principal Ross Brawn says he is confident that the team will be bale to perform as the season progresses.
The team has struggled to make an impact after Nico Rosberg's win in China. Mercedes was tipped to be a strong contender for the titles during the pre-season tests. The team showed promise during the qualifiers of the first few races and then the win in
China confirmed that the team now has a car that can get the them wins.
Since though the team has been struggling Michael Schumacher out of the five races done so far has only managed to finish two. The German has showed his dissent over the Pirelli compounds as well and blames them partly for his dismal showing in the season
so far.
Talking about Schumacher Brawn said that the team and the driver has to work in tandem to make it work. So far, the team has not been able to support Schumacher like it should have.
Brawn however is not concerned that China was a one off and believes that the team has what it takes to add on to the solitary win. He said that in the season ahead there will be certain conditions and certain circuits that will suit the Mercedes car.
“Take some of our competitors in Barcelona, they were a second quicker than us, and we were a second quicker than them in the previous race,” he said. “There's big differences sometimes when these tyres are working or not working properly. I think it's a
combination of the two, which makes it quite difficult to always understand where you are in the car and what you have to focus on to improve it.”
He added that the team has achieved some useful progress with the car and it now with the development where it should be, when the conditions fall in place the performance will definitely come back again. The last couple of races were not the kind of results
that that team wants.
It will be interesting to see how Mercedes fare at the Monaco GP as other teams like Lotus and Ferrari are starting to look really strong as well in addition to the already strong Red Bull and McLaren.
