Mercedes reveal their new exhaust layout at Young Driver Test – Formula 1 news
Mercedes have revealed their new exhaust layout on the first day of the Young Driver Test held at Magny Cours in France and have also tested their novel double-DRS.
The Brackley based team along with Ferrari and Force India, is participating in the test and all of them are trying to make the necessary evaluations regarding their update packages so as to come up stronger in the races ahead.
Ross Brawn, the team principal of Mercedes said that their new updates will provide more balance and will definitely help in improving the pace of their car in the upcoming season.
The British driver, Sam Bird who drove Mercedes car in the Young Driver Test said that they had a very productive opening day as they successfully completed the desired number of laps and collected the essential information about their updates which will
be used in making further progress.
“We've had a very productive first day of the test today and were able to complete everything that we had planned on our programme,” he said. “It felt great to be back in car again and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
Furthermore, he said that he had a wonderful experience of driving an F1 car while he said that he is positively looking forward to the next day so as to gather more information relating to the upgrades.
“I've driven at Magny-Cours previously, in a Formula 3 car, and it was good to experience it today in a Formula 1 car. The layout here is nice and smooth whilst also being quite challenging. We've collected a lot of data today, which will take some time
to sift through this evening, I'm looking forward to another good day tomorrow,” he added.
All the contenders are busy in making the considerable advancement as they are well aware of the fact that the development process is going to play a key role in this year’s championship.
Although, the current season has been full of surprises, nevertheless, the teams with the most successful development plan are more likely to perform well and will leave a stronger mark in the championship battle.
