Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn apologises to Michael Schumacher – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team Principal Ross Brawn apologised to Michael Schumacher after the Canadian Grand Prix which saw the German fall prey to another mechanical failure.
Schumacher had to retire the race because of rear wing failure making it fiver retirements for the German out of the seven Grands Prix completed so far. Out of the fiver retirements four have been out of Schumacher’s control. There have been two qualifying
errors as well which led to Schumacher not able to enter the next round of qualifying.
Following so many errors, Brawn apologised to Schumacher and said that the team has led him down.
“Michael was caught in a train of cars in the lower half of the top ten, and although we tried something different by stopping early in order to get him into clean air, it didn't quite work for us,” Brawn said. “He then suffered a hydraulic issue which left
his DRS jammed open and it was not possible to fix it in race conditions. I can only apologise to Michael for a further technical failure.”
Schumacher amid all the bad luck still maintained that it was not the fault of the team and remained positive. He did say that he was unaware of the issue he had in Montreal until he ran off-track at turn nine.
He added that it was disappointing that the Montreal race did not turn out to be trouble-free for him and the hydraulic problem with the DRS forced him to be out of the race. He mentioned that he overshot the corner, and ran through the grass and realised
something was amiss.
The team then radioed him that told him of the issue with the DRS. It is still not a matter of pointing fingers things like these happen in Formula 1 its part of the sport. The team has been putting all the effort and doing the best they can to come up with
the best car for him. The team and engineers take it even harder than him when the car fails.
Schumacher said that he is now looking forward to Valencia and will not be ruing his time over the Canadian GP.
