Mercedes will fight until the end of 2012 – Formula 1 news
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn has said that they will fight until the end of 2012 Formula 1 season despite facing difficulties in the last few races due to which they have lost some crucial points in the championship battle.
Michael Schumacher of the Brackley based team struggled during the Korean Grand Prix and could not score even a single point as he came 13th in the charts. On the other hand, his teammate, Nico Rosberg has retired in the last couple of races.
Brawn has said that even though they have faced some issues in the preceding few races due to which they could not attain competitive points. Nevertheless, he insisted that they are not feeling frustrated and are positively looking forward to come up stronger
in the approaching races to secure a good position in this year’s constructors’ championship.
Furthermore, he said that they are currently focussing to make the necessary preparations for the next year but he asserted that they will not take the remaining races for granted and will not give up until the conclusion of the season.
“We need a balanced approach I think,” he told Autosport when asked about splitting efforts between this season and the next. “Our chassis team are designing next year's car and there are certain directions they want to confirm. The aero changes
you saw on Friday morning [in Korea] with the rear wing [double-DRS] are primarily for next year. So there is a mix.”
“We don't want to sacrifice the remainder of this year while working for next year, but there is a strong aspect [of looking to 2013]. But we still want to have a respectable performance for rest of the year,” he added.
In addition, he said that they are hoping to be competent in the Indian, Abu Dhabi and Brazilian grands prix while he expressed that they presently don’t know about the track of United States GP as it is going to be opened this year.
It will be exciting to see how they perform in the forthcoming races and whether they will able to increase their lead over Sauber or not.
