Mercers Row expected to thrive in Twitter Handicap
Mercers Row is expected to notch up first position in the Follow Redcarracing On Facebook & Twitter Handicap when he will run on the 5 furlongs course of Redcar on Tuesday, June 5. The Class 4 contest containing £4,075 in the prize purse will commence at
3:45 (GMT).
The Noel Wilson-trained bay gelding is on a hat-trick. The five-year-old veteran horse marvellously achieved a triumph each on May 3 and 15, 2012. In each of these two races, he faced 9 competitors.
First, the maverick sprinter triggered a mammoth upset in Turftv Handicap and then proceeded to stand first in Annie Oxtoby Memorial Handicap.
Earlier, the brilliant runner had gained a runner-up rank against 11 rivals on April 8. These three impressive and outstanding performances have spiked up the gelding’s confidence level greatly.
As a whole, the talented son of Bahamian Bounty out of Invincible has won 3 of his total 19 starts to date. Now, he is awash with winning momentum that will help him thrive in the coming contest.
Capitalising on his excellent racing capabilities, Mercers Row will compete against 13 rivals including Bedloe’s Island, Eland Ally, Beauty Pageant, Bosun Breese, Lady Royale, Swendab, Quaroma, Select Committee, Nickel Silver, Cool In The Shade, The Nifty
Fox, Secret Venue and Tabaret.
However, Swendab can impede Mercers Row in the race. The John O’Shea-trained bay gelding marvellously accomplished a fabulous hat-trick of victories during July-August 2011. The experienced horse went on to finish 5th in his last start on September
30.
Today, the son of Trans Island out of Lavish Spirit is going to run after a long gap. There can be made no exact prediction about him, but it is hoped that he will show a decent run.
Among the other runners, Bosun Breese will also perform well. The David Barron-trained bay gelding superbly won a race each on May 20 and June 2, 2012. In between, he grabbed a runner-up rank against a dozen of rivals. Overall, he has 6 classic victories
to his name.
Thus, there will be a fierce battle in the Handicap. Let us see who manages to turn the tables.
