  1. I read that they are going to try some last resorts for Mercury, and they are thinking about canceling it by 2011. After all they are selling less than what Oldsmobile and Plymouth were when they were put down. Hardly anybody even knows what a Mercury is any more. Mercury really is a pointless brand since we have the normal Ford and the luxurious Lincoln, so what's Mercury? Too bad because I love the cars they are putting out right now.

  2. ford isnt going to get rid of mercury, heck they even started to put ads out for them, i never seen a mercury ad when i bought my milan and now i see them atleast 10 times a day on tv, the web, radio

  3. I remember reading this rumor just after GM shuttered Oldsmobile. Mercury has got to be the liveliest "dead" marque on the planet. Part of the reason that Ford divested itself of Jaguar and Land Rover was to concentrate on domestic brands.

  4. Don't believe everything you see on You Tube.I read both Motor Trend and Car and Driver and while there were rumors awhile back, at this point they aren't going to drop the line. More possible is that GM may drop another brand in the not-too-distant future. Both Ford and GM, as well as Chrysler are really struggling right now. Even the Japanese brands are down in the US right now, even tho Toyota surpassed GM in worldwide sales in June for the first time. When they have rebates, you know it's serious. Anything can happen right now in these tough times, but don't look for Mercury to end anytime soon.
