Mercury outboard 7.5 1973 Starting problems?

Question

Does any one know why it won't start, even when using the choke, but when I spray the carb with Quick start, it starts right away and runs great after that... its the innitial cold start I have problems with...any thing I can do to fix that problem?

may be a number of glitches,but should be an easy fix.prior to starting ,squeeze the ball an the fuel line until hard.pull the engine over once then check the plug for gas.if it has gas then the fuel is ok,check for spark next if the spark is low the coil may be on the way out.be sure to check gap.  good luck
