Merkel set to sizzle at Dundalk – Fillies Maiden Preview
Dundalk horseracing track will host Better ODDs Ladbrokes Fillies Maiden at 6:20 (GMT) on Friday, February 24. With €6,900 of prize money, the high-voltage race of 1m distance will have 10 runners.
The entries for the contest include A Little Help, Beforeit ‘Stoolate, Circumstances, Destiny’s Child, Elegant Sisi, Foinse, Majestic Timeline, Merkel, Owega Dale and Queenscliff.
Here we try to figure out those three fillies who are more likely to bag top three positions in today’s marathon.
Merkel
Edward Lynam’s black filly started her career on October 14, 2011. Since then, she has run for 6 times to date but not won. However, she has delivered some good performances at Dundalk course.
After finishing 2nd in a race on January 20, the three-year-old notched up 4th spot on February 17 while competing against 7 rivals. She was driven by W J Lee through both these races.
On today’s Dundalk card, the filly stands above all in terms of experience and stats. She is expected to show a superb run and register her maiden victory. Her chances to thrive are as high as 75 percent.
Destiny’s Child
After making her debut on November 25, 2011, the Timothy Doyle-trained filly finished last while fighting against 13 competitors in her very first outing. However, she turned to be a potential fighter in her second and last race on February 10 and wrested
3rd spot convincingly.
The sudden upward movement of the novice runner has made her a favourite for today’s race. She is supposed to run to her best and clinch at least 2nd rank. She will give enough tough time to Merkel.
Elegant Sisi
The trainee of W McCreery started her career with 4th position on January 20, 2012. In her next outing on February 17, the black filly finished 5th against 7 competitors.
These two starts have exposed that she owns enough talent which is likely to help her thrive at Dundalk today. She will be able to grab at least 3rd spot.
Conclusion
Like this trio, none of the other runners has any triumph to her credit. Everyone will struggle hard for achieving her first success. Thus, it will be a heated competition. Let us see who gets what. Good luck to all the runners.
