Merlins Myth dominant in the Owlerton Bookmakers 480 – Duplicated at Sheffield on 3rd April
The Owlerton Bookmakers 480 – Duplicated is to be hosted by Sheffield over 480 metres flat on Tuesday, 3rd April. The prize money for the winner is set at £200. Taking part in the contest tonight are Archielonglegs, Merlins Myth, Shelbourne Abi,
Markeys Nikita, Restlessfarewell and Sharp Hawk.
Leading with the best credentials is the very lightly raced Merlins Myth, Top Honcho’s five-year-old black dog out of b***h Dairyland Sue. He has raced through the new season four times and has struck a hat trick right out of his first three races.
Merlins Myth’s penetration into the season was on 25th February at Doncaster over 483 metres which he settled in 30.38 seconds. Joining the winner on the other side of the wire was Viking Legend.
He then raced twice at Sheffield, both the races got credited against his name as victories.
He took over the 480 metres distance on 14th March in 28.92 seconds while leading by 3 ¼ lengths. Closing in at the heels and thus finishing as the runner up was Prestonaintalkin.
Completing the trio and then striking a hat trick was made possible on 21st March at Sheffield over 500 metres. Merlins Myth timed the distance in 29.86 seconds with 1 ¾ length under his belt.
As soon as it was time for Merlins Myth to stretch the winning streak beyond three, he stumbled badly on to a fifth position in the most recent race that he took part in.
On 29th March, Merlins Myth ended fifth in the Bedford Road Midi at Henlow over 550 metres. The winner of the race was Westmead Aouita who clocked the track distance in 33.52 seconds and led the field by 2 ¼ lengths.
Blackrose Bullet was the 4/6 favourite runner up of the race who concluded the track distance in 33.70 seconds.
Settling into the third slot was Droopys Minnie.
Even though Merlins Myth lost after bagging a victory, he will be exposed to a competitive lineup as Shelbourne Abi has just come out of three training sessions while Markeys Nikita has just posted a victory.
Merlins Myth’s success tonight is not impossible but it will not come effortless either.
