Mermaid existence, anyone there?

im now 17 and i still believe in mermaids. i believe i am one.hahaha but my parents would say to me to stop acting like 5year old or else they will bring me to a mental hospital. my friends would told me. it's all in my mind. is there any of you out there who could prove that mermaids exist or have seen one for real?

im doing a project on mermaids for an english paper and im trying to decide if i do or not too. I dont know yet. Just doin a lot of research stil. keep your beliefs girl, dont let other people tell you what to believe or not believe. Be yourself. As for the mermaids, i believe if you cant see something, it can still exist. thx
