Question:

Merrill Lynch stock troubles?

For those who own stock in Merrill Lynch or other companies like it, should we sell or keep holding on till this current stock cycle gets over with?

  1. good question.  I don't have an answer.  There are those that say MER is a great buy now.  They are of the school buy low sell high, I think.  Then there are those who think that this problem that financial companies are having is not going to end any time soon. Even the financially better off companies are having their stocks beat down dramatically and MER is not among that group. For myself I have refrained from buying any financial stocks at all during the current strom even though some look very attractive at current prices.  They might be more attractive still a year from now or they might also be bankrupt.  If you have held MER for some time you have already lost maybe 70% so what is a few dollars more?  Of course if you have a lot of stock in MER, I guess a few dollar more can add up to a significant sum.  Chear up though.  You can bet the executives of MER have not lost anything except maybe money they had hoped to make on their stock options, but I am sure MER will make them whole again.
