Merritt Krawczyk wins Women’s 200yard IM gold – Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet
Merritt Krawczyk of Penn State-MA won gold medal of the Women’s 200yard Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet on Friday, November 16.
The 21-year-old Krawczyk stifled hopes of her opponents in the eight-lap discipline and proved her dominance for gold medal. She stayed prominently ahead of her opponents in the race and proved her mettle for the title.
With her notable pace, Krawczyk enjoyed a lead of one and a half body length over her closest competitor and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 59.86 seconds.
The champion was followed by Ellen Williamson of Virginia-VA, who stayed 1.27 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end as second position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 01.13 seconds.
Williamson was chased by Amy L Modglin of Penn State- MA, who occupied third fastest spot of the race touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 02.06 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Chelsea R Weedman of Penn State-MA, who was only 0.26 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for fourth position by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 02.29 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Sarah R White of Virginia-VA, who stayed almost 1.50 second slower from her foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 03.61 seconds.
White was followed by Dorina Szekeres of Hoosiers, who stayed 0.90 seconds away from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.51 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Brookly Snodgrass of Hoosiers, who stayed 1.09 seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.60 seconds.
Snodgrass was chased by Charlotte Clarke of Virginia-VA, who was half a body length behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 06.09 seconds.
In addition, Krawczyk was happy with her victory in the 200m IM and received gold medal of the race at the victory ceremony of the event.
