Merry Jaunt to take down the line-up of the Surbiton Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

The line-up for the Class 5 Surbiton Maiden Fillies’ Stakes has gathered a mixed line-up of those who have already tried their luck at clearing the maiden, and have failed, along with those who will race their career debut through the maiden today. The race
will be hosted by Sandown over a mile and fourteen yards on Friday, 31st August. Fourteen three-year-old runners are giving it a try so that their connections get a chance to choose further options once they have cleared the initial hurdle.
Candidates from some really reputable stables have been entered in the race. The most prominent being the under charge of the 2011 St Leger champion team, trainer, John Gosden and rider, William Buick, have their expectations associated with three-year-old
bay filly, Merry Jaunt.
She failed to meet the expectations on the first asking on 13th August, 2012 in the £32 Bonus At 32Red.com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield over a mile. The American bay filly ended third in the field of six while racing with jockey, Tom Queally.
The race was won by the favourite entry of the race, Khazeena, by the margin of three lengths. Street Sense’s daughter chased the leaders, was pursuing the leader when there were still three furlongs left for the wire. Her pace failed her when the final
two furlongs were approaching, but she remained steady inside the final furlong.
The distance that she has to race over today is just slightly bit more than what she raced at Lingfield. The venue today is different too and she will become the mount of the stable jockey, William Buick. The duo has drawn the third gate to race from.
They will need to look out for the unexposed representative of Roger Charlton, Hint Of Promise.
Another contestant to look out for is the three-year-old bay filly, Cowslip, who failed miserably during the first attempt of the career at Kempton. The conditioning skills of trainer, Richard Hannon, cannot be underestimated specially when his under charge
is giving her second shot at the maiden.
Some fillies have tried breaking free from the maiden more than once while the most experienced entry is, Fulney.
