Merry King to be crowned at E.B.F/Sun Trade Windows “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle Qualifier
E.B.F/Sun Trade Windows “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle Qualifier (DIV I) is scheduled to take place at Ffos Las on 19th February, 2012. 12 runners will be competing for the purse of £3, 249 over a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs.
The racing line-up starts from Ohio Gold, Jumps Road, Merry King, Canopy Of Stars, Captain Scarlett, c**k Of the Rock, Koultas King, Motou, Pericoloso, Society Shares, One More Cookie, and Hero’s Call.
Ohio Gold, son of Flemensfirth, out of Kiniohio, ended 2011 with a win, but his seasonal debut was less impressive.
He finished 1st by beating, Isleofhopendreams, at Plumpton in the Yes Promo Products “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle. He finished in 7th place on 14th January at Kempton in the William Hill Lanzarote Hurdle Handicap.
Despite his dissatisfactory performance in the last race, predictions are that he may show improvement in this race.
Jumps Road, 5-year-old son of Clerkenwell, out of Diletia, did not live up to expectations in his seasonal debut as well.  He finished fifth at Warwick in the Grade 2 Neptune Investment Management Leamington Novices’ Hurdle on 14th January 2012.
Merry King, son of Old Vic, out of Merry Queen, is in good form. The 5-year-old demonstrated his capability in Croxton Park Novices’ Hurdle at Leicester on 24th January 2012.
Canopy Of Stars will be racing against some strong competitors at Ffos Las. The son of Fair Mix, out of Maid Equal failed to impress in his last race. He finished 11th on 25th January 2012, at Hereford in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance
Novices’ Hurdle.
Captain Scarlett also failed to impress in his seasonal debut, which took place on 31st January 2012. The son of Milan, out of Count My Blessings finished 13th at Taunton in the Bravo Company 40 Commando Royal Marines Novices’ Hurdle.
c**k Of The Rock, son of Pierre, out of Glynn View, started his year in a better position. He finished 4th in the Digibet.com Maiden Hurdle at Ffos las on 11th January, 2012.
Koultas King, son of Exit To Nowhere, out of Carrigmoorna, will be making his seasonal debut in today’s race. His performance in 2011 was average, as he finished 6th on 26th December in the Toteplacepot E B F “National Hunt” Novices’
Hurdle Qualifier which was held at Towcestor.
One More Cookie’s seasonal debut was commendable. The 6-year-old-mare, whelped to Old Vic out, of Lady Bellingham, triumphed over, Regal Brook, at Plumpton on 16th January 2012 in the J H Builders E B F Mares “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle.
Motou, Society Shares, Pericoloso, and Hero’s Call will be fighting to gain pace against the other competitors. Their chances of securing a placed position are slim.
It is speculated that Merry King will lead the race based on his previous performance at Leicester. There is room for progress in his performance, and he is gaining attention rapidly. Ohio Gold is likely to heat up the racecourse as he will be fighting Merry
King for the first place.
