Arsenal’s centre back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Per-Mertesacker-c29680 believes that the Gunners saw a their form dip at turn of the year, due to the absence of a winter break.
The German international made the move from Werder Bremen to Arsenal at the start of the current season, after spending five years with the German club.
The defender has now gone on to reveal that he personally saw his form dip due to the lack of a winter break, which he had become used to at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. However, Mertesacker also feels that the rest of the team would have also benefited from a break.
When talking about the difference in the two leagues and the manner in which they handle their breaks, Mertesacker is quoted to have said: "It was my choice to go to the English league and have no winter break, no breather at the end of the year”
"Normally in Germany you have a chance to calm down at the end of the year, maybe go on holiday. [Having no winter break] was very hard. We had a great time with the family here in London, but you have to deal with the situation.”
Mertesacker then admitted that he was not going to let this lack of a break effect him, as he was enjoying life in the Premier League and with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and hopes to be even
better next season.
He then ended by adding: "It is harder, but I really like it here. This is my new life: you get used to everything."
Over the course of the last couple of weeks, Mertesacker has really gone on to pick his form up. The defender has been performing exceptionally well and seems to finally be proving his worth to the Gunners fans.
Many people weren’t sure why the player looked so out of place at the start of the current year, but it has now become apparent that the player was just waiting to get used to life at the Emirates.
With him now being well aware of how the league runs, he is going to only get better with time.
