What do you think are the top 6 most interesting living things in the mesopelagic/twilight zone.

  1. I would have said Rod Serling, but he's been dead for decades.

    My favorites are squids, wolf eels, cuttlefish, swordfish, and the chain catshark and anything fluorescent green.   They live life in the semidarkness under a lot of pressure, but at least hurricanes and sunburn are not problems.


  2. I would have to say the zooplankton.

    These little cirtters are so amazing.  Although they are microscopic the diversity of these animals truly boggles the mind.

    Many of them look like how I think aliens from another planet would look.  

    I've been on a night trawl in the Florida Keys and it's amazing to see the phyto- and/or zooplankton which exhibit bioluminescence.  Tiny green lights everywhere in the ocean.
