What were the unique attributes and most famous components or accomplishments of Mesopotamia? Just a brief description.

Mesopotamia was one of the earths first civilizations. It laid a foundation for other civilizations to follow. -After this put some of Mesopotamia's discoveries, inventions, and studies.-

Ha... just had a lecture on this in my European History class.

Mesopotamia was a region located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (present-day Iraq).  It was home to the first civilization and city; Sumer.  Sumer relied on the rivers for their agriculture and the citizens were the first to establish buildings, irrigation, trade, and domestication of animals.  There was another town named Ur and it had the largest ziggurat known in history.  There was also a very powerful leader named Hamurrabi who ruled the land for quite some time and developed the first code of laws in history!
