My friend has a laptop that has all this software loaded on it that it makes the whole thing extremely slow. The problem is that you have to wait like an hour to boot it up, close the programs, and it is still really slow. I'm asking this because he wants to play World of Warcraft. Is there an easy way to fix this. And he dsnt use it at all because it's so slow. is ther an easy way i can hlp him fix it without reloading the OS, or without buying new hardware?

Here are the specs.

Dell Inspiron

1.5 Ghtz

1 GB of ram

Windows Vista Home Premium

  1. GO TO tools, internet options clean out the temp files this will help a lot! Plus you should install and run search and destroy its great to run weekly!!

  2. the reason it is slow is because well vista is a memory hog and he has only 1 gig of ram and you need atleast 4 gigs of ram for it to run decently so he should probably upgrade to more ram there is not really any other way unless he deletes ALOT of his files and then it will still be slow

  3. you can delete all the junk off of it clean out the start up group but a full format and reinstall of  windows would be much faster

  4. Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

You can download and scan your computer for free.

  5. I actually like the idea of a full format, but I don't think you want that. I don't know if you can do it on vista but this works for XP.

Hold the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and hit R. This will give you the run window. From there type "msconfig". This will give you the Configuration Box. Go to start-up and uncheck those that you don't want to run on start-up. Click OK to close the window and restart. This should help a bit. You also may want to do a system cleanup and defrag the computer.
