http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 were shocked at Celtic Park last night as they went down to a 2-1 defeat which ended their unbeaten run in the group-stage in three years
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 contributed his side’s defeat to their lack of killer finishes in the match. The Barcelona star still believes their performance was much better than the previous one at the Camp Nou in which they defeated the Scottish
Champions.
Messi believes they wasted their chances of the night and because of that they couldn’t kill off the game. The best chances of the night went to the star himself and the likes of, Andres Iniesta, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álex-Sánchez-c4796 and the midfield maestro,
Xavi, who all failed to capitalize on their chances in front of the goal.
It was the Celtic goalkeeper, Fraser Forster, who made important saves as the hosts went ahead thanks to goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Watt which made the score 2-0.
Although Messi got the consolation goal for Barcelona, he admitted his side failed to take advantage of their early chances in the game.
The star felt his team did everything they could but somehow couldn’t find the back of the net.
"We did everything well, played better than two weeks ago against them, but the ball didn't go in," Messi said.
The Barcelona forward, also shared his thoughts on the similarities between this match and the one before at Nou Camp. He said that Celtic sat deeper and went for the counter attack whenever they got the chance. He explained how
they take advantage of corners and set-pieces.
"The same thing happened at the Camp Nou. They played defensively and they waited to make fast counter-attacks. They are very comfortable on corners and set-pieces, and that's how they scored their two goals."
Moreover, Barcelona coach, Tito Vilanova, has preferred to look at the bright side and didn’t criticize his players.
“We interpreted the game well, knew what we wanted to do, created many chances, but didn't finish well and their 'keeper was great," he said. "I don't like to lose, but if we have to lose, let it be this way."
Barcelona are still on top of the group with nine points and Celtic now sit second.
