The Argentinean skipper blames luck as Barcelona drew 2-2 against Real Madrid and believes that since Barcelona were without their key players, it was still a great performance by the team.
There were many important players missing from the Barcelona starting line-up and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 has stated that it is due to bad luck that the Catalan giants could not field their first-choice team in El Clasico.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have taken a phenomenal start to the season, winning their first six La Liga games consecutively.
Moreover, luck has also been on their side as their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, have dropped eight points.
Right before the game against Los Blancos, Barcelona lost a few of their key players.
The club captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, both picked up injuries which kept them out of action for the game against Real Madrid.
El Clasico is considered to be one of the most important fixtures in La Liga and since Barcelona were eight points clear of Real Madrid, Los Blancos were to visit the Nou Camp with all guns blazing as it was their chance to bridge the gap between them and
their arch-rivals.
The match, eventually, ended in a 2-2 draw which means that Barcelona are still eight points clear of Real Madrid.
However, Lionel Messi believes that it is due to bad luck that Barcelona could not field their first-choice players and the game against Real Madrid could be won by them.
While speaking about the fixture between the two Spanish giants, Lionel Messi said:
“There is hardly any difference between us now and each year it’s getting smaller. These games are incredible to play in and everyone loves nights like these.”
“However, luck wasn’t on our side this time. We had a lot of key players missing through injury and those that came in played in positions they are not accustomed to, but they all performed brilliantly.”
“This group of players always pull through in spite of everything.”
While Gerard Pique will be returning to first-team action soon, Carles Puyol is expected to be out of action for at least 7 more weeks, according to the club doctors. Moreover, Eric Abidal is also expected to join the first team soon.
