The Argentinean star broke the record of Gerd Muller during the game against Betis and later joked about how he wants to score more goals so that it is hard for the next player who will try and break his record.
Lionel Messi recently broke the German legend, Gerd Muller’s record of 85 goals in a single calendar year.
With the brace which the Argentinean maestro scored against Real Betis, Messi took his goal-scoring tally to 86, something which no other player in the world has achieved.
There was a threat to Messi’s goal-scoring record, as many thought that he might not be able to play during the year 2012, after he picked up an injury against Benfica during the midweek.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leo-c22011 was about to find the back of the net in the Champions League game against the Portuguese giants, but a knock on his left-knee saw him getting stretchered off, but luckily he did not pick up a serious injury and managed to make a comeback against Real
Betis on Sunday.
The game against Betis saw him scoring two goals and the Argentinean star later claimed that he will try and score more goals so that it is hard for the next player to break such a record.
“The record is great for what it means, but the most important thing is that the team won and that we maintained the distance with the teams behind us.”
“I was eager to play after the scare on Wednesday. I’ll try to score more goals to make it more difficult for the next player that tries to break it.”
“When the year starts the objective is to win it all with the team, personal records are secondary.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 has scored 86 goals in the year 2012, and now he has 3 more games to play before New Year.
The Argentine star will definitely try and set up a record which no other player can achieve at least for the coming 50 years.
Messi has to play three more games from which two are from La Liga and one is in the Copa del Rey.
