The 24-year-old expressed that his ultimate goal is to lead his national side, Argentina, to football glory. The Argentine publicized his ambitions to win the most prestigious trophy in football, the World Cup, at some point in his career.
He also revealed his aspirations to lead his team to a Copa America triumph, a trophy much revered for the South Americans.
Lionel Messi is widely considered to be one of the best players of the modern game.
Currently, he is one of the most successful players in the world. He has helped the Spanish Giants, Barcelona, win two Champions League and three Spanish Primera titles.
The Argentine has played an integral part in Barcelona’s team that is considered to be enjoying one of the most successful eras in its history.
However, the attacker has been rather unsuccessful in his attempt to achieve the same glory with his country. His performance with the Argentinean national team has not been up to the expectations associated with him.
Messi has often been criticized and his intent to win with La Albiceleste has been questioned time and time again.
Hence, the player has expressed that his dream is to achieve glory wearing his national colours.
According to Argentina Football Association’s magazine, the Barca player was quoted as saying:
"A Dream? To win the World Cup and the Copa America. That is what I am missing and I am convinced I will do it. I would be delighted to win a title with the national team. But it is clear I have nothing to prove, I have always been willing to help and it
will always be like this.”

"I do not feel I owe anything to anyone, let us make that very clear. I am simply one more player on this team who wants the best for Argentine football. Little by little, our team is growing," he added.
Messi then insisted that it is useless to compare his performance between Barcelona and Argentina. He maintained that Barcelona are undoubtedly the best team in the world.
"Honestly, you cannot compare, it is not worth it. Barcelona have the best in the world.
