Barcelona have struggled against their last two oppositions and found it hard to beat them, and Lionel Messi believes it is due to fatigue that players are not performing at their best.
Barcelona faced Spartak Moscow in their opening UEFA Champions League game and found it hard to beat Unai Emery’s men.

However, with Lionel Messi on Barcelona’s side, anything can be expected and the Argentinean maestro took only eight minutes to turn the game round, scoring a late brace to finish the game 3-2 in favour of La Blaugrana.
After playing a tough game against Moscow, Barcelona had to return their focus back to Spanish La Liga, where they had already won all four of their opening games, accumulating twelve points in the process.
While Barcelona were to host Granada at the Nou Camp, many assumed that the Spanish giants will find it easy to beat their opponents over the weekend.
However, the case was exactly the opposite as Barcelona struggled till the 87th minute as Xavi Hernandez finally found the first goal to give his side the lead.
Granada were ready to park the bus against La Blaugrana and tried to take the best out of the chances created on the break.
While speaking about these two fixtures in which Barcelona have struggled, Lionel Messi came out and defended his side, stating that they are currently fatigued since they are playing in different competitions.
While speaking about his team-mates, Lionel Messi said:
“We had a hard pre-season and in the first games you feel the physical work done over six weeks in which you hardly touch the ball.
“In addition, we had a group of players who came back from the European Championships and then had international matches with long journeys.”

“I had spent nine days without any decent rest so I spoke to Tito [Vilanova] and he decided to leave me on the bench.”
