Question:

Messy Ponytail Needs Gel or Pomade?

Let me start off by saying most of my hair is thick and curly except in the VERY front it's kind of kinky and frizzy...maybe because it's damaged - I do wear bandannas a lot. The frizzy part is my problem area.

So does anyone know what I can/should use to make my ponytail smooth and stiff? Gel doesn't seem to work for me because when I'm wearing my hair natural and unprocessed (like in an afro-puff), my little problem area is frizzy and out of place by the end of the day. And when I straighten my hair and use gel to try to hold it in place, the gel turns my hair curly again. I haven't really tried pomade and I hear it causes less damage than gel but is really hard to wash out. Please give me any suggestions on brands of gel, pomade, or hairspray that you think would work because I'm thinking about cutting the frizzy part off and wearing a headband to hide my baldness until it grows back in healthier.

  1. What  ever you do DONT cut off the frizzy part! all you need to do get some extreme shampoo and conditioner! it will take about a few weeks but it will work trust me i had the same problem cuz when i did a cheer competition our hair is pulled really tight back and gelled back.and when i took it out wow, talk about embarassement!

  2. well 'bed head' has a line of super stay products. They work super good. They're kinda expensive, but they're prefect for keeping hair in place and smoothing kinks. And almost any hair problem. Good Luck!
