Mesut Özil set to depart and Barcelona will look elsewhere
Craig Bellamy and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could make moves to Tottenham Hotspur, with manager Harry Redknapp saying he would bring them on loan rather than spend a lot of money on them.
AC Milan are interested in Giovani dos Santos of Tottenham, and could offer Huntelaar as part of a swap deal, while Yannick Djalo of Sporting Lisbon has held discussions with Tottenham.
Former Arsenal player Alexander Hleb could move to Fulham, with new boss Mark Hughes wanting him on loan from Barcelona. Hughes also wants to bring Manchester City’s out-of-favour striker Roque Santa Cruz but faces stiff competition from Stoke City. Also, Manchester City are attempting to bring Bordeaux’s Yoann Gourcuff to the club.
Premier League champions Chelsea are set to seal a deal for Ramires for £18.3million. The Brazilian defensive midfielder will complete his move from Benfica soon.
Mesut Özil looks set to leave Werder Bremen as the club were told to lower their £16million asking price. Arsenal and Manchester United will step up their interest in the Germany playmaker who starred for them at the World Cup. Özil was believed to be seeing out the final year of his contract, but a sale looks very likely now.
Barcelona will attempt to sign Everton’s Mikel Arteta if they cannot land Arsenal captain Cesc Fabrégas. Barcelona have been trying all summer to land Fabrégas, and are not willing to pay over the odds for the 23-year-old Spaniard.
Manchester United will look to buy Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid. The Frenchman was at Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth before signing for Real Madrid, and he could make a return to the Premier League. Meanwhile, United striker Danny Welbeck will complete a loan move to Sunderland this week.
Carlton Cole will not be sold according to West Ham manager Avram Grant. There is interest from several Premier League clubs, with Stoke City potentially lining up a £9million bid for the England striker. However, Stoke boss Tony Pulis has denied any interest in the 26-year-old, while Blackburn will try to sign Everton’s James Vaughan for around £1.5million.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle wants to sign Tom Eaves from Oldham Athletic, while Blackpool want Derby County striker Rob Hulse. Jimmy Bullard has been told he might never play for Hull City again after turning down an offer from Celtic, while Ipswich Town will make a move to bring Michael Chopra to the club.
