The attacking midfielder was subjected to abuse on the social networking website.
The Real Madrid midfielder broke into the Mannschaft squad in 2009. He made his first appearance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 in February 2009. The former Werder Bremen man was then called up to the 2010 World Cup squad. Mesut
impressed in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757, played a vital role in Germany’s 3rd placed finish.
He established himself as an integral part of Joachim Low’s side and was Germany’s main attacking threat. Currently the attacking midfielder is at the European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983, and has helped cement his side’s
place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Ozil was is a third generation German, and is originally from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026. Despite being of Turkish origin he decided to play for the country of his birth.
Recently the midfielder has been the subject of racist abuse on a social networking website. The user accused him of not having a German name and also suggested that Mesut should not be playing for Die Mannschaft.
Mesut’s father suggests that his son does not deserve all this abuse; he was born in Germany and has done enough for his country of birth. He reckons his son is a good kid and he is strong enough to be unaffected by all this abuse.
"Mesut was born in Germany, and has done a lot for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and the integration of others. He's a great kid, and it hurts us to see these things happen. It doesn't affect his game, though," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
In response to the racist tweet, Mustafa Ozil (Mesut’s father) states that he has had enough and will file a complaint against the ignorant twitter users. He thinks this abuse has to stop because today these people targeted his
son, tomorrow it could be Sami Khedira, Jerome Boateng, Lukas Podolski or Ilkay Gundogan.
Mustafa insists it is not the first time his family has encountered this sort of abuse, but now they have had enough and will take action against it.
“This crossed the line and we've filed a complaint. This time it's aimed at Mesut, but the next time they could be after Jerome Boateng, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 or Ilkay Gundogan. It's not the first time that something like
this happens, but we want to make a clear statement now. We no longer want to accept this," he added.
The abuse is unlikely to affect the 23-year old, who will be back in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 and will look to do the talking on the pitch.
