The Germany international insists he is not thinking about a possible Euro 2012 final with Spain.
Die Mannschaft look like the only team besides http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 capable of winning the 2012 European Championships so far. They have been in sensational form after the suffering shock defeats in their warm up friendlies.
Joachim Low’s men made easy work of Portugal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753, on their way to quarter-finals, where they convincingly defeated a below par Greek side.
Now they face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, who themselves have been far from convincing. Although Germany are being tipped by bookies to topple Spain but, in order to get to the final they will have focus on the task at hand.
The last time Azzurri faced Die Nationalelf in a competitive match was in the 2006 World Cup, DFB eleven’s march to the final was halted by the Italians, who eventually lifted the World Cup themselves.
There have been suggestions that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 v Spain would be a dream final, but Mesut Ozil believes it would be disrespectful to other teams involved in the competition. He thinks in order to reach the final the Spaniards and Joachim
Low’s men need to focus on their next opponents, and they should not be getting ahead of themselves.
"It would be wrong for me to say Germany against Spain would be a 'dream final. There are four teams in the semi-finals and we need to make the next step, which also applies to Spain,” The Los Blancos playmaker is quoted as saying
in an interview.
The midfielder insists his side are not taking their place in the semi-finals for granted and are fully focused on their opponents. In his opinion their main aim is to reach the final and lift the trophy so it does not matter which
side they face.
"We're fully concentrated on Italy and Italy only, and only then will we see who we play against. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, does it? Whether it's Spain or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984," Ozil added.
Joachim Low’s side will have to be at their best if they are to beat Cesare Prandelli’s men. The Italians have showed they are capable of holding their opponents for a draw. They have world-class defenders in their ranks and have
held Spain in the Group stages.
