Real Madrid attacking midfielder, Mesut Ozil, has expressed that he is very pleased with his side’s 3-1 victory over Real Zaragoza.
Los Blancos played hosts to Manolo Jimenez’s Real Zaragoza this Saturday, in their Spanish La Liga fixture.
To the delight of the Real Madrid faithful, the Whites were able to secure an important victory over a struggling Zaragoza.
The match was deemed as an important fixture as it was Madrid’s first after their Copa del Rey exit at the Barcelona. Jose Mourinho’s men were looking for a chance to redeem themselves from the defeat they had suffered during the midweek.
Interestingly, the visitors were able to put a phenomenal show, especially in the initial phases of the match as they were able to go in front just eleven minutes after kick-off.
However, Zaragoza’s joy was short-lived as Mourinho’s men were able to find a way into the game with relative ease. Brazilian international, Kaka, scored the equalizer in the 32nd minute putting his team right back into the match.
As the second half kicked off, the match had become a total Madrid affair, as they started dominating their opponents. Ronaldo scored the second and Ozil scored the third to give Los Blancos the much-needed three points.
Mesut Ozil performed spectacularly throughout the game’s proceedings. He provided a valuable assist and scored a goal to aid in his side’s triumph.
According to the club’s official website, the German international was quoted as saying:
“I'm happy to help and because we won. It was an important match; I work hard every day and talk to the coach a lot. I feel great with Kaka we both score whenever we play together in both training sessions and matches.”
On the other hand, Barcelona were forced to a 0-0 stalemate by Villarreal, providing Jose Mourinho’s men with an advantage of seven points over the current Spanish Champions in the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings.
