  1. Its our body that metabolises a drug not any protein or carbohydrate.

    Similar to the food, the medicine gets absorbed in the intestine, so goes into the blood and is circulated through out the body and reaches the liver where it gets metabolised. it's chemical structure is broken down by means of liver enzymes, then it is excreted.
