Question:

Metal Gear Online Reward Points Questions??

I had 10 reward points, after playing for like 2 hours. Then I played for like 15 minutes, and got 1000 reward points. But when I got all those points, I did really bad, but when I do really well, like I have the most points out of everybody in the end of a match, and I do 15 matches, exactly like that. Then I look, and I get 10 reward points.

So my question is, how do you get reward points?

Sorry if it doesn't make much sense. It is sort of confusing.

  1. The 1000 reward points was a coincidence. Everyone received that as part of an apology from Konami for their server issues. Although I know you get reward points for paying regular games, I believe it has to do with the time you play and not your skill.

If you want to really earn reward points you have to buy the expansion. There is a survival mode included that takes place over the weekend (1:00PM-1:00AM EST, Fri-Sun), Basically you play a number of games with a team of 5 other people (so games of 6vs6), and you try to keep winning. The first win is 100 points, 2nd 200, etc up to 5 rounds. If you win all 5 rounds you get 500 points for a total of 1500 points. If you lose a round you start back at 0 wins (you get 50 points for participating though). For example, if you win 2 rounds and lose the 3rd, you'd get 350 all together.

Without the expansion it will take a really long time to get reward points. You also get 3 new maps, and Meryl and Johnny for multiplayer (but I honestly haven't tried the new characters yet). The Gene Expansion "PLUS" gives you an extra character slot so you can customize another person. The regular Gene expansion is $12, and I think the Plus is $15.
