Keeping in line with today’s theme of leaks, it seems that yet another game’s existence has been made public before either the publisher or developer would have liked.
News in the video game industry comes from various sources, if it is not official via the publisher or developer then it comes from a CV posted online (Dead Space 3) or a listing by a retailer (God of War: Ascension).
This time around it has come via a slide from a presentation, which AT&T held. For those who are wondering what AT&T has to do with video games, the answer is simple. The company was announced as the PlayStation Vita’s service provider for 3G at E3 last
year.
It turns out that the presentation had to do with convincing everyone concerned about the existence of third-party developers working on the PlayStation Vita. A number of familiar names were on the list but no one was expecting Konami to be listed alongside
Metal Gear Rising.
While many analysts suggested that the Vita needed a game along the lines of a Metal Gear title, and many expected it to be announced in the near future, the reveal of Metal Gear Rising has come as a slight surprise to the gaming community.
We could put this in the rumour mill yet the source is undeniable and the slide as concrete proof as any without an official reveal. It seems that Sony may very well have a Vita ‘console seller’, as long as the game isn’t a nightmare.
What adds more weight to the story is the fact that the game’s developer earlier teased that that it would have an announcement to make on the 30th of April regarding the Metal Gear Rising series.
All the pieces seem to be moving in the right direction for Metal Gear to make its debut appearance on the PlayStation Vita, though despite the fact that Raiden is a cool enough character, many gamers will be disappointed at the lack of Snake.
