Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots Help please?

Hi, I recently bought MGS4 and I have had it easy up to the fight against Vamp. I know that you have to defeat him then inject him with the syringe but how. I have tried grabbing him with CQC but it doesn't work.

Do you have to switch your weapons to none then grab him?

when you knock him down, and when he is done regenerating grab him, while behind him and while standing or crouching (i forget which one does which), MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SYRINGE IN YOU ITEM SLOT THEN HIT TRIANGLE, and yes it is easiest when you switch to none, and make sure you don't have the stun knife equipped because therefor you will not inject him but you will slit his throat.
